Incumbent Libertarian Councilman Retains Seat

For the first time, the Libertarian Party of Ohio had several endorsed candidates running in an off year election. John McAllister,
incumbent Gahanna City Councilman, retained his seat for a fourth term.

In other races around the state, Alaxander Haas garnered 7.5% of the vote in his bid for Canton City Council, Ward 8 seat. Up in Lorain County,
Sean "Kalin" Stipe finished with 9% of the vote for a Lorain City Council At-Large seat and Joyce Early received 10% in her bid for Lorain City Council Ward 3 seat. Over in Marion County, Angela Williams got 15.5% of the vote for a Marion City Council At-large seat and Spencer Phelps came in at nearly 34% of the vote for Marion City Council President.

Kevin Knedler, Executive Committee Chair of the Libertarian Party of Ohio said, "So the journey does not end, but is now beginning. With the learning experiences of 2008 and 2009, we are preparing ourselves for the 2010 cycle of races. Just like a sales person who gets turned down in many presentations, it takes only one successful meeting to set the stage for future success. Good sales people are persistent and press on. I truly feel the country is starting to “wake up” and will join in a “citizen revolution” at the ballot box. We must continue to give the citizens another choice, other than the two old parties of the 19th century, with their broken promises and legislation full of pork spending that has effectively put our state and country in a perilous fiscal situation."

Chairman Knedler went on to say, "You should ALL be commended for the work and time you have put into the LP/LPO to this point. For the LPO, I look at the increase in membership, increase in funds, increase in county organizations, increase in outreach materials, increase of people on the LPO Meetup groups, vast improvement to the lpo.org web site, and frankly the ability to attend meetings at the Ohio statehouse and with the Ohio Secretary of State.  Again, all 100% volunteer efforts."

LPO Candidate Featured On Jay Leno

OH-12 LIBERTARIAN CANDIDATE FEATURED ON JAY LENO SHOW

Travis Irvine, who is running as a Libertarian Candidate in Ohio's 12th Congressional District race, was featured on The Jay Leno Show last night.
In a segment called "Elected or Not Elected", Leno featured a 'jingle' commercial from Irvine's 2007 campaign for Mayor of Bexley, and mentioned that Irvine should "stick to politics", and also that he "loved that song".
As with all the "Leno" shows, the full episode can be viewed here, with the segment in the Chapter 6 "Political Ads" section: http://www.thejaylenoshow.com/video/episodes/#vid=1165170
This appearance, and the outpouring of support that has followed as a result of it, ensures Irvine will indeed be a factor in Ohio's 12th Congressional race, which is already receiving much national attention.  The incumbant, Republican Pat Tiberi, is already under fire from groups such as MoveOn.org, and will be presumably facing Democrat Paula Brooks.
The attention to Irvine is of the utmost importance now, as the American people are beginning to see that there is little difference between Democrats and Republicans.   As President Barack Obama has opted to continue the war in Afghanistan on its 8th anniversary, third party candidates, particularly the Libertarian Party, now offer the American people the only anti-war option in the 2010 races.  Irvine promises to be one such candidate next year.
More can be learned about these stances from the Libertarian Party's website, www.lp.org, specifically the Libertarian Party of Ohio's website at www.lpo.org.  Irvine's campaign website, www.irvineforcongress.com, is still under construction, but more can be learned about Irvine and his jingle from his 2007 Mayoral campaign website at www.americanmayor.biz.

The Libertarian Party of Ohio

The Libertarian Party of Ohio (LPO) is the only political party in Ohio dedicated to the principles of smaller, limited government, lower taxes and more personal liberty for the residents of the State of Ohio. Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans can make this claim. The Libertarian Party of Ohio (LPO) is the third largest political party in the state. Whether the issue is school choice, economic stimulus, gun rights, or property rights, the LPO will always favor the principles of limited government and maximum personal liberty. The Libertarian Party of Ohio has the same vision as the Libertarian Party, which is "for a world in which all individuals can freely exercise the natural right of sole dominion over their own lives, liberty and property by building a political party that elects Libertarians to public office, and moving public policy in a libertarian direction."
