LPO Political Director

Appointed by the LPO Executive Chairperson, with approval of LPO Executive Committee

The Political Director is one of five (5) Directors in the LPO organization, all reporting up thru the Executive Committee of the LPO. The Directors coordinate the day to day operations of their respective divisions. Being focused on one LPO division, the Director will set the plan, create the vision, build the team, and insure the various team members are in sync.

The Political Director is focused on ballot access, strategic planning, candidate and campaign support, lobbying, offering opinions on statewide ballot initiatives, and offering opinions on proposed laws from the Ohio Assembly. The Political Director will also review the division organization and make changes where needed in order to meet success goals.

Key positions that will report up to the Political Director will be in the areas of strategic targeting, candidate and campaign support, candidate vetting, legislative relations, and issues review

Required Qualifications:
-Citizen of Ohio
-Contributing member of the LPO
-Contributing member of the national LP
-Background in politics, campaigns, or a previous candidate
-Excellent communication skills
-Excellent organization skills
-Pragmatic approach to team building
-Assertive and motivated with ability to make decisions in a timely fashion
-Reliable and frequent Internet access
-Cell phone

Additional Qualifications:
-Degree in political science, marketing, or communication
-Previous experience with helping to build an organization
-Previous experience with sales, promotions, and marketing
-Previous experience as an elected public official

This is a volunteer position with the Libertarian Party of Ohio.
